Prizes:
Winner: $200 Scholarship, Crown, Official Banner
Winner qualifys to compete at the Miss Arizona's Outstanding Teen Pageant January 21st & 22nd.
Local title = $400 scholarship off of state pageant entry fee
1st runner up: $100 Scholarship
Quality of Life Winner: $100 Scholarship
Participant = $200 scholarship off of state pageant entry fee

To compete you must:
* Be a young lady between the ages of 13 & 17

Miss America’s Outstanding Teen, Inc. has been organized to encourage positive achievement by helping to nurture and build the scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living and community involvement of our nation’s youth.

Among its initiatives, the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen will host a national competition intended to encourage and reward the talent, communication skills, community service, and academic achievement of girls between 13 and 17 years of age. 

The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen will also establish community-based initiatives and mentoring programs aimed at helping our nation’s youth build character and gain the skills necessary for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, community and business leaders, as well as participants from the national competition, the Organization will implement programs aimed at helping young people develop strong values, leadership skills, social conscience, self worth and conviction about their own potential.

2012 MISS ARIZONA'S OUTSTANDING TEEN ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

In order to be eligible to compete in the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Pageant, a contestant competing for the title of Miss Arizona's Outstanding Teen must (a) have been at least thirteen (13) years of age at the time of her first appearance in the preliminary round of the State competition that she is entering in anticipation of this year's National Finals, and (b) be no older than seventeen (17) years of age as of July 31, 2012.She must also not be eligible to compete on the Miss level in the Miss America Program at any point during the current Pageant Year.

A contestant must reside in or be enrolled in and attend classes on a full-time basis at an accredited public, private or home school program in Arizona with passing scores in academic and citizenship grades.A contestant must have been a resident of Arizona for a minimum of six (6) months or must have been enrolled in an Arizona school program for at least one semester.

A contestant must be a citizen of the United States of America.

A contestant is and has always been a female.

A contestant is not now nor has ever been married.

A contestant is not now pregnant nor has ever been pregnant and is not the adoptive parent of any child.

A contestant must be of good moral character and has not been involved at any time in any act of moral turpitude.

Other than minor or petty offenses, a contestant must never have been convicted of any criminal offense and there must be no criminal charges presently pending against her.

A contestant can never have performed any act or engaged in any activity or employment that is or could reasonably be characterized as dishonest, immoral or indecent.

A contestant must be in good health and can, to the best of her knowledge, participate fully in any pageant/program activities.

A contestant does not use or consume any illegal, controlled or dangerous substances or abuse the use of alcohol or other dangerous substances.

All contestants are required to submit a one-page essay in support of their chosen platform / area of community service.This essay will be provided to the judges and may be a source of information during the judging process.

This Age/Education Eligibility Chart is for 2012 Local and State Pageants that lead up to the crowning of Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2013 that will be held in August 2012.This Age/Education Eligibility Chart will be updated annually for the following year's competition, no later than July 31st.

Although additional eligibility rules exist with which contestants must comply, thetable below is designed to assist with determining the eligibility for a contestant to compete in a Miss America's Outstanding Teen State or Local Pageant, based upon the Age/Education eligibility rules of the Miss America and Miss America's Outstanding Teen organizations:

(1) Eligible if the contestant reaches 13 years of age by the first day of the 2021 Miss State's Outstanding Teen competition.

(2) This chart represents eligibility based on a potential contestant's Age and Education.There are other eligibility requirements and rules including: Residency, Citizenship, Other Personal Characteristics, Contractual and Other Obligations, and any special requirements of the Local or State Organization.Refer to the current MAOTeen Application and Contract for Local and State Pageants for more detailed requirements.

(3) The last day that a local Miss pageant may be conducted in the State.

(4) In this case the contestant could also be a high school graduate or have received her G.E.D.

(5) In this case the contestant must graduate from high school or receive her G.E.D. by the end of the Spring 2012 school year.
